Polly Williams
Polly Williams, author of best selling novel The Rise and Fall of a Yummy Mummy, contacted us with a request to completely redesign her website.
Our brief was to help build Polly's online presence, promote her books, increase sales and engage with the audience by giving them a window into her world, and reflect her personality by designing the site to be friendly, inviting, fresh and light.
Polly was very keen to be in complete control of the content of her site and also wanted the flexibility to be able to write about various different aspects of her life and interests. With this in mind, we designed a flexible layout where she can add limitless pages and articles, and the site will grow organically in doing so, leaving Polly to concentrate on what she does best, writing.
It was important we got the look and feel just right - not too fluffy, not too serious. By using a textured book spine to hold the logo and navigation, a crisp serif font provided free from Google presenting a much more personal feel, fresh, vibrant colours and a clean, simple layout, the whole website becomes a pleasurable experience, simple to navigate and easy to read.
As usual, we installed our CMS of choice, ExpressionEngine, which enabled us to give Polly the exact and only tools she needed to simply update her website, without ever feeling out of her depth.
The website has already received much praise and compliments and we look forward to the next stage of the project, where we'll be designing a HTML email newsletter, so Polly can further keep in touch with her fan base.
